Educators and Students

Dr. Kathy Richardson Stands with Our Educators and Students

As an educator, former Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and longtime mentor to students and healthcare professionals, I understand the importance of strong schools, workforce development, and preparing the next generation for success. I have worked directly with students from entry-level nursing through doctoral education, helped develop academic programs, secured workforce-focused grant funding, and supported pathways that connect education to real careers and community needs.

I stand with educators and students because education changes lives and strengthens communities. Teachers, faculty, and students deserve leaders who understand the challenges facing education today — from workforce shortages and affordability to balancing educational quality with real-world preparation. I believe we must support strong educational opportunities while ensuring students are prepared to succeed in the workforce, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to our communities.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping support and mentor the next generation of healthcare providers
With fellow Pacific Lutheran University nursing faculty following commencement – a reminder that education changes lives and mentorship helps shape the next generation of leaders.
